How to apply?
There is no application process; bursaries are awarded immediately if you meet the eligibility requirements.
Eligibility
- Must have finished the University of Essex’s first year of study in 2023–2024.
- In year 0, I received a 1st or 2.1.
- Enrol in your first year of full-time undergraduate coursework, which will culminate in the awarding of a four-year Bachelor’s Degree, Integrated Master, beginning in October 2023–2024.
- Students will receive £1,500 if they receive a first in year 0.
- Students will receive £1000 if they receive a 2.1 in year 0.
- Only the first year of study in 2023–2024 is eligible for this scholarship.
- Other University awards may be given out in addition to this bursary.
- Selected candidates ought to be accessible for promotional events.
Students who are not eligible
The following students are NOT eligible for this scholarship regardless of meeting the above criteria:
- Students studying online distance learning courses.
- Students transferring in from year 0 from another UK higher education institution.
- Beginning in October 2023–2024, students will repeat Year 1 of a full-time undergraduate program that culminates in the awarding of a four-year Bachelor’s Degree, Integrated Master.
- Deferred entrance is exempt from this bursary grant. The grant will be revoked and the application will be reevaluated in accordance with the terms and circumstances that apply in the new planned year of admission if a scholarship has been given to a student who later postpones entry to the next academic year.

South Asia Scholarship

Eligibility
- Only students who pay fees abroad and are fully self-funded are eligible for these scholarships.
- Students will be regarded as self-funded if they receive a repayable loan to finance their education.
- Students must normally reside in one of the aforementioned nations (for a definition of ordinary residence).
- In 2023–2024, students must be enrolled in Essex’s first year (Year 1) of undergraduate study.
- UCAS candidates have until July 14, 2023, to firmly choose Essex. Candidates who are rejected by their initial firm choice selection elsewhere and end up joining Essex are ineligible. Direct applicants have until July 14, 2023, to accept their offer.
- Each student may only receive one scholarship, and it cannot be combined with another University of Essex scholarship.
- Only the first year of study is eligible for this scholarship.
