Deakin University provides research degree and PhD scholarships that can cover tuition, international student health insurance, and living expenses.
HDR Scholarship – Research Training Program Scholarship (RTP)
Deakin University Postgraduate Research Scholarship (DUPR)
Benefits and Duration | A tax-exempt annual stipend of $33,500 (starting May 28, 2023). A relocation grant ranging from $500 to $1,500 (for single to family) is available to students migrating from interstate or overseas to study at Deakin. |
Doctoral Degree Duration
- 3-year stipend and 4-year tuition charge offset.
Research Master Degree Duration
- 2-year stipend and 2-year tuition charge offset.
Eligibility criteria
- The eligibility criteria for an RTP Stipend, RTP Fees Offset, RTP Allowance, or DUPRS, a student must be studying an HDR course at Deakin University, whether local or foreign.
- To be eligible for an RTP fee offset, a candidate must not have received a comparable Commonwealth grant or scholarship to offset their HDR expenses.
- To be eligible for an RTP or DUPRS Stipend, a student must not receive income from another source to cover general living expenses while pursuing their course of study if that income exceeds 75 percent of the RTP or DUPRS Stipend rate. funds unrelated to the student’s course of study or funds obtained for the student’s course of study but not used to cover general living expenses will not be considered.
Selection Process
RTP and DUPRS stipends will be awarded to students as part of a competitive procedure outlined in the ranking rules below. Students who receive an RTP or DUPRS stipend will study full-time on campus.
For an RTP or DUPRS Stipend, the candidates must consist of the following:
- Completed at least four years of tertiary education studies.
- Have 80% or equivalent in the research component of their prior studies or a comparable level of academic accomplishment, taking into consideration past study, relevant job experience, research publications, and other research experience.
- Meet all other minimum entry requirements according to the Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Admission, Selection, and Enrolment Procedure.
