PhD Top Up Grant

To support an exceptional Ph.D. candidate in commencing their research career at UOW Law, we are offering a top-up grant of up to $ 10,000 for three years in the priority area of criminal justice and issues relating to intoxication, including alcohol and drug-related violence, anti-social behavior and other forms of offending.
The Strategic Ph.D. Top Up Grant will be available to a high-quality Ph.D. applicant in conjunction with a successful application for a full Ph.D. scholarship, such as an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA), University Postgraduate Award (UPA), or International Postgraduate Tuition Award (IPTA). Refer to the Graduate Research School for more information on applying for HDR scholarships at UOW.

Eligibility and application details

  1. The scholarship is for three and a half (3.5) years full-time with a stipend of $AUD 26,288 per annum (tax-free and indexed annually). The Strategic PhD Top Up Grant is up to $ 10,000 for three years.
  2. Ph.D. scholarship applicants should have the following:
  3. first-class honors, a master’s degree by research, or a master’s degree by coursework with a significant research component
  4. Additional relevant research experience, peer-reviewed research activity, awards, and prizes will be regarded favorably.
  5. Applicants should submit:
  6. a cover letter detailing relevant experience, your CV, and academic transcripts via [email protected]
  7. a Higher Degree Research (HDR) admission and scholarship application. Include your academic transcript, a copy of your passport or birth certificate, and an outline of your proposed research project.

Summer Research Scholarships

ELIGIBILITY

  1. The scholarships are tailored for high-achieving students who will complete their undergraduate studies (four-year honors, end-on honors, or double degree) next year and expect to proceed to a higher degree in EIS the following year.
  2. High-achieving students completing their second year can also apply, but priority in allocating scholarships will be given to third- or fourth-year students.
  3. Students studying a full-time Master’s (coursework) are also eligible to apply.
  4. (Some funds may be available for students completing their undergraduate studies at the end of this year and who have applied for a research degree and accompanying scholarship to commence in EIS next year.)

APPLICATION

  1. Around mid-October, you will receive an email from [email protected] advising that applications are now open to undertake an EIS Summer Scholarship. The email will contain a link to view the list of potential research projects and also outline when applications close.   2. Look through the list of potential summer projects.
  3. Discuss with prospective supervisors your suitability for the project.
  4. Head to the link provided in the email to submit your application to undertake an EIS Summer Scholarship and provide:

  6. selected topics (up to three); and
  7. the reason why you want to apply.
