The University of Limerick is a government platform for research studies in Limerick, Ireland. It is often known by its abbreviation UL. The National Institute for Postsecondary Education, Limerick, which began in 1972, came into an institution in 1989 in compliance with the University of Limerick Ireland Act of 1989.Following Dublin City University’s founding later that day, it became the first institution working since Irish independence in 1922.The University of Limerick’s campus is located at Plassey, County Limerick, 5 kilometers (3.1 mi) from the city center, on a 137.5-hectare (340-acre) plot with 46 hectares (110 acres) on the north bank and 91.5 hectares (226 acres) on the south bank of the River Shannon. More than 2,400 overseas students and 1,500 part-time students are among its more than 11,000 full-time undergraduate students.At the institution, 1,300 academic staff and around 800 research postgraduates are getting instruction. In addition, its co-operative education (“co-op”) program, the country’s first of its kind, allows students to complete up to an eight-month work experience as part of their graduation.
